i was gonna write a brief note on a funny commercial that was shown at the movie theathers last night, there was no zapping available, so definitely it was a rapery. anyhow, i said i was, as i now saw incredible imagery about whats happening in New Orleans.
a few policy officers beat the shit out of an old man (65) they acused him of theft, but the clean punches spoke louder than any words acusing this poor man who could only do NOTHING but stand straight… well, until they threw him on the floor…
to me, the moral of all of this is only one oversaid statement “Bad boys”
… once upon a time before IT/DigitalEra/PCs/Macs/Palm!!!
Reading a personal web from almost a MachineMan (in matrix terminology), I pretty much saw myself back in those years, and funnily enough there were significant coincidences between what the guy was describing and my own livings.
Programming in Logo was fun !!! I even made a Logo emulator from Basic (Spectrum +128 – from Sinclair) quite cool with saving .scr’s files on RAM back at that time – predecesors of screenshots
Anyhow, then first PC came, Olivetti PC1, no hard drive, still running on DOS, both with 5,1/4 and 3,1/2 diskettes and a dotmatrix printer.
Then first hard drive (another olivetti) running a 8080 micropocessor.
Big jump to intel pentium came late in 1996!!! Little boy with a lot of potential not to much RAM nor too fast, but doors opened to what we know today as the highways of information and wide cyberspace.
To me the door came thru a few holes on the walls of my mom’s house, you should have seen the longggggg phone wire i had to buy at the shop, 30 metres :/ the guy look at the shop looked at me as i was totally funnily bizarre guy, not knowing wireless phone sets
Anyway, after putting the wires thru the holes, my room was ready to surf!!! Then, the first phone bill (no flat fees back then in my country) around 110 euros, mom wondered the kind of things i was doing in this “interesting” internet computer stuff.
today, looking back I see it has been a nice long ride, however, as one of the big ones used to sing, Show must go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
